“Sweets for the Sweet” Sugared Popcorn

1 1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

1 1/2 teaspoon of Watkins Root Beer Extract (or your favorite Watkins Extract)

1 cup popcorn kernels

optional food coloring

Bring to a boil the sugar and water, boil for 7 minutes or until the syrup  “spins a thread from a spoon”.  Stir in Extract and optional food coloring.  Pour over the popped corn kernels and stir until dry.  Spread on a cookie sheet until cool – serve to your little spooks, ghouls and goblins.

Oyster Cracker Munchies

Oyster Cracker Munchies

Mix 1/4 cup Watkins Original Grapeseed Oil, 1 – cropped oyster crackers2 TBSP your choice of Watkins Snack & Dip Seasoning and one 10-12 ounce package oyster crackers in a large zip-top bag.  Seal and shake until crackers are well coated.  Spread in a shallow baking pan and bake at 375 degrees for 5 to 6 minutes or microwave on high, uncovered 3 to 4 minutes.  Stir once during baking. Cool and serve.

Watkins Cinnamon and Spice Cookies

Watkins Cinnamon and Spice Cookies

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp Watkins Purest Ground Cinnamon

1/2 tsp Watkins Ground Nutmeg

1/2 tsp  salt

1 1/2 cups sugar

12 tbsp butter (1 ½ sticks), softened

1 egg

1/2 tsp Watkins Original Double-Strength Vanilla

1/4 cup molasses

Preheat oven to 350F. In a medium bowl whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In a shallow bowl set aside 1/2 cup sugar. With an electric mixer beat butter, remaining sugar, egg, vanilla, and molasses until well blended. Combine with dry ingredients until dough forms. Roll dough into 1 inch balls and dip in 1/2 cup/125 reserved sugar. Arrange on a baking sheet, about 3-inches apart. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.

Makes 3 dozen.

Watkins Cinnamon-Sugar Mini Muffins

5 Tablespoons butter, softened

1/2 cup sugar

1 egg

1/2 cup milk

1 1/2 cup all purpose flour

2 1/4 teaspoons Watkins Baking Powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoons Watkins Nutmeg

In a small mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.  Add egg; mix well. Beat in milk.  Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg; beat into creamed mixture, just until moistened.

Fill greased miniature muffin cups two-thirds full.  Bake at 350 degrees for 14 to 16 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.  Cool for 5 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.  Dip muffins in melted butter, then roll in Watkins Cinnamon-sugar mixture (1 part Watkins Cinnamon to 2 parts sugar).  Serve warm.  Makes one dozen.
